escape with wayfare magazine: island fever

This week we’re thrilled to share our second installment of our Summer Escapes Series. This go-round Wayfare Magazine’s creative director and partner, Peggy Wong, is getting us ready for the travel season with a peek into how she jet-sets and where she is headed next. Hint: think tropical!

If her stunning travel photography is any indication, Peggy only selects the most beautiful places to go. We just wish she’d pack us along in her travel bag. Click Read More to see where Peggy is off to now.

What’s next on your busy travel schedule?

Puerto Rico. I used to live there when I was young, so I’m particularly excited about this trip.

What inspires your travels?

I’ve been a world traveler since the age of eight and can count the places I’ve lived with two hands, so I have to think it is part of my DNA. It is the endless curiosity of exploring and learning that keeps me constantly on the go.

What is your travel mark?

~ Plush white bedding

~ A room with a view

~ Concierge services par excellence (see photo above*)

*Photo: Great Barrier Reef, taken during my recent trip to Hamilton Island, Australia. The luxury resort, qualia arranged a private seaplane flight and glass bottom boat tour with a select few guests. No detail was missed, from snorkeling equipment to sparkling wine. It was the kind of experience that only happens once in a lifetime.

Do you collect anything while away?

I collect business cards on every trip, from bars, restaurants, shops, galleries, hole-in-the-wall establishments, hotels, and the list goes on.

What will you be packing for this island getaway?

I’m a light packer, and I tend to pack the same items for every trip. For me it is about pieces I can dress up or down no matter where I am in the world.

~ Wardrobe staple: White v-necks by Everlane

~ For when sea breezes kick up: French terry sweatshirt by T by Alexander Wang

~ Denim for days spent exploring: “Racer” skinny jeans by Citizens of Humanity

~ To ward of evening chills at dinner: James Perse contrast linen jacket dress in white

~ The wear everywhere for everything sandal: Chloé two-tone ankle strap sandal in bronze/black

My Three Must-Have Mark and Graham travel items:

~ Everyday Leather Zip Pouch in white (corner monogrammed with Didot, single letter W).

~ Everyday Leather Tote in Camel

~ Cashmere Two-tone Herringbone Scarf in heather gray
